The term project for this class involved redesigning the Bahen courtyard, an unused space on campus. The team including five other members was tasked with redesigning this space by the Sustainability Office, with the intention that this space was going to be used by students to study, relax, and grab a bite.
As team leader, I planned meetings, kept the team on track with schedules and internal deadlines. Being a leader also involved keeping the team motivated, and mitigating disagreements. It was also my responsibility to get all team members involved in discussions, decision making, and tasks for the project.
As a team member, just like my teammates I had to complete tasks I was tasked with. One of these tasks was creating the renders seen above, which was achieved using SketchUp. I designed the Bahen courtyard to scale, then added our proposed conceptual design which included an outdoor seating area, a mural featuring Indigenous art, planted trees, and indoor seating area next to the kitchen/food stall. All of these components were thought of by the team, and fulfill some requirement or request from the client.
These peer evaluations were completed using ITP Metrics one month apart. In each diagram, my own rating is in yellow, while my peers' rating is in blue. In the first evaluation, my peers' rating are higher than those given in the second, and so are my self-ratings. However, my self-ratings were more accurate to my peers' perception of my in the second report.
Overall, in both reports my best quality is capabilities, meaning my peers most believed in my abilities to complete my work diligently, effectively and efficiently. In both reports, the main qualities that my team commented on were my leadership abilities, organizational skills, and good work/ideas. Some quotes from the feedback showcasing these are below. The one area of improvement that came up in both reports is that I should be aware of my peers' different working styles and be more recepetive to others' ideas.
