For around 2 years I led an after-school program for young girls aged 9-12 at my local community centre.
The program would take place on Friday nights from the months of October through May. I worked along side 3 other girls, and the four of us would plan weekly 2-hour sessions filled with activites and games for the girls.
Our sessions had various themes to aid the girls in developing their social and leadership skills. We explored topics relevant to that age group such as friendships, school, and more.
This experience developed my teamwork skills, as my co-workers and I had to work cohesively as a team to give the girls the best experience possible. It also developed my leadership skills as leading an age group younger than me was new. Furthermore, this experience tested my creative thinking skills as I had to come up with new and different activities every week, for eight months.
