Over Summer 2025 I worked my first internship for a branch of TFI International. This company has branches throughout the world and is a leader in the transportation and logistics industry.
My job over the summer was an Operations Support Intern, meaning I was involved in the organization and logistics of loads commissioned by clients. Aspects of the job include inputting client orders into the company system (AS400), tracking our drivers, planning trips, relaying information about delays/issues between drivers and clients, and more.
This was my first experience in a corporate job, which meant I had lots to learn. In terms of technical skills, learning to use office softwares such as excel, as well as company softwares such as AS400 was a learning curve but showcased how I learn quickly and adapt to new situations. Furthermore, orders and client loads changed by the minute, which caused schedule conflicts and problems that needed quick solutions. This tested my problem-solving, quick-thinking and creative thinking skills. Additionally, this job required a large amount of organization and coordination as my day-to-day relied on communicating internally with my team, but also externally to clients and other company branches. This further expanded my professional communication skills.
